What is the Right Age to Nip and Tuck your Eyes?

During many of my cosmetic consultations, patients come to me looking for the non surgical fountain of youth. I am always sorry to inform them that there is no such thing. The best way to maintain a youthful apperaence is to have small procedures consistently starting in your mid 30's; laser resurfacing, dermal fillers, microneeding, IPLUltherapy. These procedures will help to boost collagen production and maintain elastin in the skin matrix, however it is not a replacement for surgical intervention.

Regardless of how many noninvasive procedures you undergo, the only thing that will restore your drooping hooded eye lids or remove the bags below them is a surgical blepharoplasty.

There is no ideal age for eye lid surgery.  It depends on genetics, individual anatomy and when the degree of aging concerns a patient enough to do something about it. Generally, patients who have a blepharoplasty in their mid 40’s to early 50’s have a better, longstanding result than those who wait until later in life. I have assisted plastic surgeons in multiple facial surgery procedures and can tell you that when done by the right set of hands, the result is natural and undetectable by the untrained eye. Plastic surgery was taboo at one point in time, and now is really just a routine procedure. Having a surgical procedure is not a replacement for noninvasive procedures,  but simply an adjunct to them.
